This week it was apple strudel making time at St. John United Church of Christ. The tasty treat will be part of the authentic German food served at this year's Germanfest, which will be Oct. 19.

The Germanfest is a major fundraiser for St. John UCC, with profits going to support the church's mission work. However, this year, the church is partnering with the Oasis Senior Citizens Center, and half of the profits will be given to that organization for their building fund.

Tony Reifsteck and Leslie Wilmert pause from peeling for a quick photo.

Nancy Gehlbach and Gertrude Leesman are the "cut-ups." They are cutting up the apples in phase two of the next process.  Gertrude is 96 years young and is so thankful she can be a part of this endeavor. Most of the people pictured in this album have been together since the beginning of Germanfest 14 years ago.

Leslie Wilmert peels apples.

Wayne Mara is adding sugar to the mixture. How sweet is it, Wayne?

Edna Mara chairs the group. She makes the dough at home and then recruits her crew.

Silas Tockey takes the mixture and wraps it up in the dough, after which they seal it up to be frozen and wait for the Thursday before Germanfest.
