As darkness fell on the Logan
County Airport Friday night, hundreds were on hand, anxiously
waiting for the moment when the hot air balloons would return from
their launch and light up the night with their magnificent colors.
The night glow at the Lincoln
Art & Balloon Festival is one of the most anticipated parts of the
festival. Friday night approximately half of the total
33 balloons participating in this year's festival returned to the
airport after their evening flight.
They unloaded their folded
balloons and set to the task of inflating once again. In the
darkness of the evening, they lit up the night with their
multicolored orbs, dancing and glowing at the command of the
announcer.
Balloons were called on to
flicker, all glow at once, wave, and then there were the special
recognitions for female pilots, local pilots, out-of-state pilots
and more.
