NAPLES, Fla. -- Donna V. Davis,
86, of Naples, Fla., formerly of Lincoln, Ill., and Janesville,
Wis., died Aug. 16, 2013. She had been a resident of Naples
since 1997.

Donna V. Davis, 86, of Naples, FL, formerly of
Lincoln, IL, and Janesville, died Aug. 16, 2013. She
had been a resident of Naples, since 1997.
She was born Sept. 22, 1926, in Whiting, IA, the
daughter of Fred and Rowena Paige Racobs. Donna
married Robert W. Davis of Mount Pulaski, IL, on
Oct. 31, 1954, and resided in Lincoln, IL, until
moving to Janesville, WI, in 1957. Donna was a
graduate of Illinois Normal State University,
Normal, IL, having earned a Bachelor of Science
Degree in Home Economics. Later, she earned her
Master Degree from University of
Wisconsin-Whitewater. For 31 years, she taught Home
Economics in grades 9-12 at Bellflower, New Holland,
and Morton, IL, and Edgerton, WI, followed by grades
6-9 at Marshall and Edison Jr. High Schools in
Janesville.
Donna was also employed at the Research Testing Lab,
Swift and Company, Chicago, IL, as a "Martha Logan"
Home Economist. Her work included testing products,
developing recipes and traveling to various U.S.
Cities to give lectures, demonstrations and cooking
schools to promote Swift's Table Ready Meats. Donna
loved to dance, collect antiques, garden and spend
time with family. One of her greatest joys in life
was volunteering and helping others.
Donna is survived by her loving husband of 59 years,
Robert; her sister, Doris Bree of Lincoln, IL; and
many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death
by her parents; her sister, Dema Joyce Kattner; and
her brother, Loren "Bud" Racobs.
Cremation Rites have been accorded and Private
Family Services in Lincoln, IL, will be held at a
later date. Donations in Donna's memory may be made
to the Humane Society of Logan County, or to a
charity of your choice.
