"This construction project will improve several bridges along
Interstate 55," Quinn said. "Additionally, it will also employ a
number of construction workers, which will help the local economy as
well." Twelve bridges along Interstate 55 will be repaired,
including deck replacement, joint repairs and concrete overlay. The
bridges are located west of Business 55, north of Lincoln to County
Highway 6 in Atlanta.
Sangamo Construction Co. of Springfield was the lowest of three
bidders for the work at $17,315,475. The Illinois Department of
Transportation will manage the project.
