WEST FRANKFORT — Thomas N. Little, 73,
of West Frankfort, died Sunday, Dec. 8, 2013, at 2:55 a.m. at his home.

Thomas N. Little passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2013 at
2:55 a.m. with his family by his side at home. He
was born July 25, 1940 to Horace and Thomasine
(Elwood) Little in West Frankfort, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Horace and
Thomasine Little.
Tom was a graduate of Frankfort Community High
School class of 1958. He attended Southern Illinois
University – Carbondale, Illinois and then he joined
the Army Reserves in 1962 and served for six years.
In 1965, he joined the Illinois State Police where
he served District 9, ISP Academy, and District 13
and in 1993 he retired as a vehicle investigation
specialist.
Tom loved to serve his community. He was
a POC firefighter for WFFD for 22 years, served as
Franklin County Deputy Coroner for 20 years, 20 year
West Frankfort Lion’s Club Member, a 32nd degree
master mason and recently received his 50 year
membership pin. He was a Fraternal Order of Police
member from 1970-present and was a member of the
First Christian Church. He served as West Frankfort
codes officer from 1996-1999 and was the FCHS hall
monitor from 1999-2002. He served on the 911 board
from 2002-2006 and served the Frankfort Township
Board from 2009-current.
Tom had a love for radios
and technology and was known by friends in the
amateur radio community as WA9BOT. He loved his
dogs, Gulf Shores, Alabama, and going to Busch
Stadium to see the Cardinals play.
He is survived by his wife, Judy DeLap-Little; son,
Justin (Melissa) DeLap of Columbia, Missouri;
daughter, Jessica (Thomas) Rude of Marion, Illinois;
daughter, Shelly Dugan of Pesotum; son, Charley
Little of Springfield, Illinois; grandchildren:
Michael Thomas DeLap, Joshua DeLap, Jade Dugan,
Ethan Dugan, Evan Kirksey, Kiersten Little, and
Hayden Little; brother-in-law, Gene Forgatch; nieces
and nephews: Steve Forgatch, Beth Conner, Todd
Forgatch, Amy Forgatch-Siefert, and Jay Forgatch.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December
16, 2013 at 11:00a.m. in Union Funeral Home – West
Frankfort, Illinois with Pastor Jason Ishmael
officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, December 15,
2013 at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00p.m. Masonic
rites will be conducted by Frankfort Lodge 567 at
7:00p.m. Burial will be in the Tower Heights
Cemetery – West Frankfort, Illinois.
Memorials may be made to West Frankfort Fire
Department. Envelopes will be available and accepted
at the funeral home.
