BLOOMINGTON -- Phyllis J. Struebing, 82,
died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, at 10:05 a.m. at St. Joseph's
Hospital in Bloomington.

Bloomington- Phyllis J. Struebing, 82, passed away
at 10:05 A.M at St. Joseph's Hospital, Bloomington
on January 30, 2013.
Phyllis was born on May 2, 1930, in Emden, Illinois,
the daughter of Ralph and Florence Diekhoff Cross.
She married Stanley Struebing on February 19, 1950,
in Emden, Illinois. He survives in Bloomington, IL.
Phyllis is also survived by three daughters: Cathy
(Rick) Cross of Minier; Faye (Jim) Wickliffe of
Bloomington; and Susanne (Jim Dornbusch) Struebing
of Califon, NJ; one brother: Robert (Julia) Cross of
Emden, IL; nine grandchildren and nine great
grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her
parents.

Phyllis was the secretary at Hartsburg-Emden High
School for over 21 years. She was a faithful member
of St. Peter Lutheran Church of Emden: member of the
church quilting group, choir, and mentor to many.
She enjoyed crafting with paints, wood, and fabric.
She will be remembered as a loving, passionate, and
devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and engaged
member of her community.
Services for Phyllis will be Sunday, February 3,
2013, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church,
Emden, Illinois, with Rev. John Schurter
officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, Feb. 2, at
the church from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to
the service on Sunday at the church. Burial will be
in Hartsburg Union Cemetery. Services were entrusted
to Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Lincoln.
Memorials may be given to St. Peter Lutheran Church
of Emden in lieu of flowers.
