"LLHIE is dedicated to advancing the delivery and coordination of
patient care across the region," said David Graham, M.D., chair of
the LLHIE board of managers and also senior vice president and chief
information officer of Springfield-based Memorial Health System.
"This new website covers the services we offer, like the secure
electronic delivery of physician orders, results and referrals." LLHIE was founded by area health care providers to continually
improve health care quality and safety across central Illinois. It
eases the exchange of medical information between hospitals,
physicians and other members of a patient’s health care team.

LLHIE’s five voting and founding members are Blessing Health
System of Quincy, along with Hospital Sisters Health System,
Memorial Health System, SIU HealthCare and Springfield Clinic, all
of Springfield. Prairie Cardiovascular of Springfield is a nonvoting
member of the LLHIE. "Electronic exchange is more reliable and efficient than paper,"
said Steve Lawrence, executive director of LLHIE. "We can get a
patient’s lab results, past medical history, medications and other
important clinical information from one provider to another quickly
			and securely."

This network, and others like it nationwide, can improve patient
safety, reduce redundant tests and procedures, and significantly
improve how information is shared about a patient’s condition,
Lawrence said. ___ The Lincoln Land Health Information Exchange is an electronic
clinical information network that advances the delivery and
coordination of patient care across the region. It does this by
enabling quick and secure exchange of lab results, past medical
history, medications and a variety of other tests among hospitals,
physician practices, extended care facilities and other entities in
the care community. For more information, visit
