A winter weather advisory is in effect from 3 p.m. Thursday to noon
Friday for the counties of Knox, Stark, Peoria, Marshall, Woodford,
Fulton, Tazewell, McLean, Mason and Logan, including the cities of
Galesburg, Peoria, Bloomington, Normal, Havana and Lincoln.
Timing: Snow is expected to spread into areas south of
Interstate 74 by midafternoon and into areas north of I-74 during
the latter part of the afternoon. The heaviest precipitation is
expected between 5 p.m. and midnight. After midnight the snow may
mix with or change to freezing drizzle.
Accumulations: Three to 5 inches of snow are likely, with the
higher totals west of the Illinois River.
Wind: East winds of 15 to 20 mph will gust to near 30 mph at
times. This will create areas of blowing and drifting snow.
Impacts: Conditions will deteriorate rapidly once the snow
begins. Travel will become hazardous due to poor visibility and
roads quickly becoming snow-covered and icy. The potential for some
freezing drizzle late Thursday night will make driving conditions
even more hazardous.
