Ronald Robert Young, 80, of Lincoln, died Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at
5 a.m. at his home.

LINCOLN-Ronald Robert Young, 80, of Lincoln, IL died at his home at 5:00
a.m. on Friday, January 11, 2013.
Ronald Robert Young, son of the late Harold Desmond and Helen Watzlawick
Young was born on October 21, 1932 in Logan County.
He attended Lincoln Schools and the University of Illinois, where he was
a member of the 1952-1953 Gizz Kids Wheelchair Basketball
Team, who won the National Wheelchair Championship in New
York City. He was very proud of the Illini Letter he
received.
Ronald married Mary K. Bergman on October 14, 1956 in Mason City; she
survives in Lincoln. He is also survived by two children:
Clark W. (Joan) Young of Woodridge, IL and Craig A. (Stefanie)
Young of Shorewood, IL and grandchildren: Erik, Ryan, Sofie
and Henry Young; a sister, Bonnie K. Young of Lincoln. A
sister, Elsie M. Hanna, Ocala, Florida and a daughter, Julie
K. Young-Dahl of Lincoln preceded him in death. |
Ron was employed by Myers Industries for 37 years as
a Purchasing Manager and held offices in the
National Purchasing Managers Association and the
Lincoln Jaycees. He was a member of the First
Cumberland Presbyterian Church where he served as an
Elder. Ron volunteered as a coach for Pony League
Baseball teams and served on the Lincoln Elementary
School Board.
Services will be held Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at 10:00
a.m. at First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Lincoln with
Steve Blaum officiating. Visitation will be Monday, Jan. 14
from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral
Home, Lincoln. Burial will be in Lucas Chapel
Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to First Cumberland
Presbyterian Church. |
