Additional finalists for the LCHS speech team were senior Wyatt
Phillis and junior Matthew Langdon, second in dramatic duet acting
and fourth in humorous duet acting; junior Madison Bishop and senior
Jacqueline Keysear, fourth in dramatic duet acting; Keysear, also
fourth in junior varsity oratorical declamation; and senior Tegan
Follis, fourth in poetry reading. Heyworth's tourney was the first
back for the team after a winter hiatus for finals and Christmas
celebrations.
Head coach Jennifer Keith said her team's seventh-place finish
was a great way to start 2013 for this small team.
"We have been plagued by illness, stomach flu and bronchitis, but
it appears other teams are in the same boat," said Keith. "I am very
proud of how our kids performed at this tournament and look forward
to great things when we host in a few weeks."
