Illinois Woman's Press Association sponsors statewide high school
journalism contest

CHICAGO -- All Illinois high school
students at public and private schools are invited to enter their
best work from newspapers, news video and yearbooks in the Illinois
Woman's Press Association's annual High School Communications
Contest. In association with the National Federation of Press Women,
the contest is listed on the National Association of Secondary
School's National Advisory List of Contests and Activities.

Details on the 20 categories, contest
guidelines and
forms can be downloaded from
www.iwpa.org. To be submitted for the contest, students' work
must have been completed between Feb. 15, 2012, and Feb. 28, 2013.
The postmark deadline is March 4.
IWPA presents the Silver Pen Award and $100 to the high school
achieving the highest number of points. State honors are presented
during a luncheon at the Union League Club of Chicago on May 18.

First-place winners go on to compete nationally, where
first-place winners receive $100 at the annual NFPW conference in
Salt Lake City Aug. 22-24.
