Janson Cooper achieves rank of Eagle Scout

MOUNT PULASKI -- Janson Cooper,
a member of Mount Pulaski Troop 122, has achieved the rank of Eagle
Scout. He is the son of Jeff and Julie Cooper and grandson of John
and Janet Cherry and Judy Cooper, all of Mount Pulaski.

Janson started as a Tiger Cub Scout in 2001 and moved up through the
ranks of Scouting, crossing over to Boy Scouts in 2006. He is an
elected member of the Order of the Arrow. He also completed a
high-adventure trek at Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, N.M., in
2009.
He accomplished the highest rank of Scouting in November 2012
under the direction of Scoutmaster Greg Maus of Mount Pulaski. An
Eagle Scout of Honor was held on Jan. 5 at Zion Lutheran Church in
Mount Pulaski to celebrate this accomplishment.
His Eagle Scout project was to paint and refurbish display pieces
for the Logan County Fair Association. The project was funded
through the fair association and completed with the help of his
fellow Scout members and the fair secretary, Mike Maske.

Janson is a recent graduate of Mount Pulaski High School. He was
active in FFA as a four-year member and served as secretary and
historian. He was a four-year member of the golf team and a
four-year member of the concert, pep and marching bands. He also
served as senior class treasurer.
Janson plans to attend Lincoln Land Community College in the
fall, majoring in animal science.
