Lydia, a zoo ambassador and educator, brought a blond tarantula, a
spotted python, a South American chinchilla and Sky, a red-tailed
hawk.
Sky has a damaged wing and is not able to care for himself in the
wild. Lydia pointed out that the zoo would prefer to rehabilitate
Sky and release him, but the seriousness of his injury prevents
that.
The Lincoln Public Library is one of over 100 stops the Peoria
Zoo makes during the year to show its animals.
The next program at the library will be the last in this summer's
series. It will be a walking scavenger hunt in downtown Lincoln on
Thursday. Young readers and their families will get a chance to
learn about downtown Lincoln and get a history lesson in the
process. To participate, sign up before the event to receive details
and rules for the scavenger hunt.
