The highlight of the event was the special evening concert presented by John Schlitt.

Schiltt was born in Lincoln and grew up in Mount Pulaski. He began his singing career with a local band, the Vinegar Hill's  Hometown Band -- Something Different.  He was only 13.

He attended the University of Illinois and studied civil engineering, but his interest in music soon led him to join a group called Head East.

In 1986 Schlitt became the lead singer for the very well known Christian rock band Petra. He stayed with Petra until they disbanded in 2005. He is now a solo artist, still spreading the word of salvation and the gospel in his music.

An anxious fan was the first to meet Schlitt as he arrived at the park.

More fans grab a chance to get their photo taken with Schlitt.

Everything stops when this little girl's mommy gets lost.

Reunited and happy once again.
