NEW HOLLAND-Robert W. Struebing, 95, of
New Holland, died Sunday, July 21, 2013, at 4:45 a.m. at Lincoln
Christian Village.

NEW HOLLAND-Robert W. Struebing, 95, of New Holland,
died at 4:45 a.m. Sunday, July 21, 2013 at Christian
Village.
Robert was born on October 10, 1917 on a farm west
of Hartsburg, the son of William F. and Amalia
"Molly" Arnold Struebing. He married Mildred Hawes
February 22, 1942.
Robert is survived by his wife of 71 years; five
children: James (Anne) Struebing; Gary and Barbara
Struebing, all of New Holland; Jean Dowell of
Springfield; and Janis Struebing of Glendale, AZ.;
one sister: Doris (John) LeGrand of Springfield, IL
and one brother: Stanley (Phyllis) Struebing of
Bloomington, IL; four grandchildren: Meredith
(Michael) Toler, Ryan Struebing, deceased, Bethany
(Nick) Nielsen, and Lindsay (Trevor) Cox; four great
grandchildren: Nicholas and Alex Toler, Archer and
Adeline Nielsen.

Robert served in the Army/Engineer Corps in the
China-Burma-India Theater during W.W. II from
October 4, 1942-December 10, 1945. He was co-owner
of C.C. Hawes John Deere Implement Company in New
Holland and Mason City. During his life he was
active in Community Service, School Board, Volunteer
Fireman, and Sheriffs Posse. He enjoyed traveling,
trailer camping, fishing and spent 25 winters at a
resort in Arcadia, FL. He was a member of Zion
Lutheran Church (Missouri Synod) at New Holland;
American Legion Post 715; 40 & 8 organization; and
the Farm Bureau.
Services for Robert will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday,
July 25, 2013 at Zion Lutheran Church, New Holland
with Rev. Charles Olander officiating. Visitation
will be Wednesday from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Lincoln.
Burial will be in Richmond Grove Cemetery, New
Holland, IL. Memorials may be given to Zion Lutheran
Church of New Holland or Christian Village, Lincoln
or to the donor's choice.
