'Prairie Voices' returns to Old State Capitol for 6  performances

[July 22, 2013]  SPRINGFIELD -- "Prairie Voices," with poems and songs that celebrate the beauty of Illinois' prairie, will return to the Old State Capitol State Historic Site for six performances.

The free presentations, featuring poems by Edgar Lee Masters, Vachel Lindsay and Carl Sandburg and songs of the prairie and its people, are part of the History Comes Alive summer lineup.

Aasne Vigesaa and Kevin Purcell will perform in Representative Hall at 5 p.m. daily July 31-Aug. 2 and Aug. 7-9.

The Old State Capitol State Historic Site, administered by the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency, is a reconstruction of Illinois' fifth Statehouse. The site is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, with tours available during open hours. For more information, call 217-785-7960.
