Wallace E. Sparks, 87, of Lincoln, died Friday, July 26, 2013, at
2:40 p.m. at Symphony of Lincoln.

LINCOLN-Wallace E. Sparks, 87, of Lincoln passed
away at 2:40 p.m. July 26, 2013 at Symphony of
Lincoln, Lincoln, IL.
Wallace was born October 11, 1925 in Lincoln, IL the
son of Luther Howard and Bessie Leona Beaver Sparks.
He married Margaret M. Musick June 26, 1955 in
Lincoln. She preceded him in death April 15, 1997.
Surviving Wallace are nieces and nephews: Nancy
(Terry) Downing of Red Bud, IL; Mark (Darla) Musick
and Kevin Musick, both of Lincoln; Carol (Chuck)
Ruben of Hartsburg, IL; Gary Sparks of Hawaii;
Janelle Dorsett of Delavan, IL;
a great niece and Godchild: Danica (Geff) Eimer of
Bellville, IL; a great nephew: Michael (Stacy)
Downing of Bolingbrook, IL; and a dear friend: Mary
Howard of St. Cloud, FL.

He was the last of his immediate family. He was
preceded in death by his parents, wife, and one
brother: Luther Sparks, Jr.
Wallace was a retired Fire Chief for the City of
Lincoln, IL. He retired in 1986. He served in the
U.S. Navy during WWII and was a member of the
Lincoln American Legion Post 263. He was a member of
Zion Lutheran Church of Lincoln.
Services for Wallace will be Monday, August 5, 2013
at Zion Lutheran Church of Lincoln with Rev. Mark
Thompson officiating. Visitation will be one hour
(from 10:00 to 11:00 am) prior to the service at the
church. Burial will be in Zion Cemetery, Lincoln
with full military rites accorded by the Lincoln
American Legion Post #263. Memorials in his memory
may be given to Zion Lutheran Church of Lincoln.
Arrangements were entrusted to
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Lincoln.
