There were 17 nominations for the committee to consider for
the honor this year. Nominations are accepted every year for people,
businesses and destinations that meet the criteria of having made
significant contributions to the character or history of the
Illinois portion of Route 66. The annual Route 66 Association
Motor Tour starts Friday, proceeds south on Saturday and ends on
Sunday. This year's tour, "Back to Our 'Routes,'" starts in
Plainfield on Friday night. There will be a huge send-off Saturday
morning at the Route 66 Museum in Berwyn, and the tour will head
south for the Hall of Fame dinner and induction of new members at
Lincoln College in Lincoln. Sunday morning the participants will
head south again, and the tour will conclude with a party at the new
Route 66 Welcome Center and Museum in Litchfield.
