ATLANTA -- Leona F. Bicknell, 95, of
Atlanta, died Saturday, June 8, 2013, at The Christian Village
Nursing Home in Lincoln.

Atlanta- Leona F. Bicknell, 95, of Atlanta passed
away on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at The Christian
Village Nursing Home in Lincoln.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Bicknell will be held on
Thursday, June 13, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at the
Quiram Peasley Funeral Home with Mr. Ryan
Edgecombe officiating.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from
5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be Mountjoy Cemetery in rural Atlanta.
Leona Francis Marvel was born on January 6, 1918 in
rural Waynesville the daughter of Charles and Ida
Gambrel Marvel. Leona graduated from the Waynesville
High School in 1935. She married James G. (Jack)
Bicknell on January 11, 1936 in Lincoln. They had
been married for sixty two years when he preceded
her in death on March 23, 1998.
She is survived by her children: Carol Ann (Jon)
Rawlins of Groveland. Jack E. (Sally) Bicknell and
James W. (Kathy) Bicknell both of Atlanta. Three
sister: Emma J. Graham of Saybrook, Ada M. Kindred
of Atlanta, Wanda Zurkhammer of Lincoln. Six
grandchildren Greg (Cindy) Rawlins, Dave (Mary)
Rawlins, Alicia (Dennis) Horton, Ericae (Chris)
Piwinsky, Jeff (Angie) Bicknell, Scott (Brooke)
Bicknell. Seven great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one sister: Charlene
Hunting, two brothers: William Marvel and Wayne
Marvel.
Leona lived on her family farm for seventy seven
years. She moved to the Christian Village Congregate
Building seven years ago when she moved from the
home in Atlanta that she and Jack built in 1950.
She was a member of the Logan County H.E.A. and
Lincoln Elks Lodge #914. She loved to play cards.
Memorials may be made to the Atlanta Rescue Squad or
the The Christian Village Congregate Building
Activity Department.
