Last week a work crew installing a new manhole on Chicago Street struck a piece of the past.

Chicago Street was the location of the old electric railroad that ran through the city and north to Union. While many know about it, not many are left who have seen or remember it. The crew found the rails and ties when they were digging.

In November last year, the Logan County Historical & Genealogical Society hosted a talk on the old railroad with guest speaker Dale Jenkins. Rick Naugle also provided photos of the line to LDN, all of which were published in December. To see that article and the photos, visit the Dec. 5 issue by clicking here.
