STREATOR -- Albon J. "Abe" Babczak, 83,
of Streator, died Sunday morning, March 3, 2013, at Heritage Health,
Streator.

STREATOR- Albon J. "Abe" Babczak 83 of Streator died
Sunday morning (Mar. 3, 2013) at Heritage Health,
Streator.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM Friday at
Hagi Funeral Home, Streator with Monsignor Philip Halfacre, officiating. Visitation will be from
10:00-11:30 AM Friday at Hagi Funeral Home. Burial
with full military rites conducted by members of
American Legion Post #217 and Veterans of Foreign
Wars Post #1492 will be in St. Casimir's Cemetery,
Streator.
Mr. Babczak was born Jan. 5, 1930 in Streator, the
son of John and Lucille (Borowitz) Babczak. He
married Carlene Wolf, Oct. 2, 1954 in Odell. She
preceded him in death Mar. 1, 2002.
Abe had been employed at the former Lipton Tea Co.
and Knoedler Manufacturing, both of Streator. He was
a member of the former St. Casimir's Church and
currently a member of St. Michael the Archangel
Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1492 and the
Polish National Alliance, all of Streator. He served
with the U.S. Army in Korea. He attended St. Mary's
Grade School and Streator High School.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews,
including Janet (Jim) Youngquist, Lincoln, and
Robert (Denise) Babczak and John (Joani) Babczak,
both of Streator.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three
sisters, Joan Kintzel, Stella Kovach, a sister in
infancy and three brothers, Mike, Lou and John
Babczak.
Pallbearers will be Bob Sr. and Bob Jr. Babczak,
John Babczak, George Starkey and Ken Sangston.
Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
