Kathy Vogt will be teaching the class, which is designed for
expectant families. She is a registered nurse certified and has
earned the Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator credential. The
class will teach participants how to know when it's time to come to
the hospital, what to expect during labor and delivery, breathing
techniques, and other pain relief options. The class will also touch
on newborn feeding and care. After the classroom portion of the
course, participants will be shown the Family Maternity Suites at
ALMH.
"We are pleased to offer these classes to the community, and we
encourage expecting mothers and their support partners to attend,"
said Elizabeth Meyrick, R.N., manager of the obstetrical unit. "The
birth process for a lot of women, even second-time mothers, can be
both overwhelming and joyful. The knowledge mothers gain from our
prenatal class helps lessen their anxiety. Information is
empowering."
ALMH's Family Maternity Suites is a state-of-the-art obstetrical
center that features three spacious and private
labor-delivery-recovery-postpartum rooms with private restrooms and
showers. Each mom and baby receives individualized care.
