MASON CITY -- The Illini Central Cougars of Mason City were able to move to the Saturday afternoon championship game, a goal they nearly reached last year.

The Cougars took a win Friday afternoon over the Nokomis Redskins at the Peoria Civic Center in the IHSA Class 1A state finals. The final score was 52-38.

On Saturday, the team went up against Madison and once again came out on top, 55-44, making them this year's Class 1A state champs.
