According to band leader Rick Letterle, the group has
recorded their first CD, entitled simply "The Rusted Guns." The
group formed about three years ago and consists of Letterle, his
sons Jeff Letterle and Terry Miller, and his good friend Bill
Treakle.
The group performs around the area, playing a selection of their
favorites for what Letterle calls "real" country music and good old
rock 'n' roll.
On their CD, they offer a selection of their favorite pieces,
including a special instrumental rendition of "Wipe Out."
"Wipe Out" was first introduced to the public in a single by the
Surfaris in 1963. The song became an icon of the new rock generation
and has been featured in over 20 movies.
Letterle said the group decided they wanted to do a CD to offer
when they perform. They got together and created a recording studio
in Letterle's basement. "When we got finished, it really sounded
pretty good," Letterle said.
