NEW HOLLAND -- Merle K. Blaum, 90, of
New Holland died Feb. 12, 2013, at 3 a.m. at Memorial Medical Center
in Springfield.

NEW HOLLAND-Merle K. Blaum, 90, of New Holland died
at 3:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at Memorial
Medical Center, Springfield, IL.
Merle was born September 5, 1922 in New Holland, IL
the son of Harry and Anna R. Hinck Blaum. He married
Dorothy Petitt on September 22, 1952 in Greenfield,
IL. She survives in New Holland, IL.
Also surviving Merle is one son: Kent R. Blaum of
DeKalb, IL; one daughter: Karol Blaum of Lincoln,
IL.; four grandchildren: Abigail Blaum, Dylan Blaum,
Kendal Gibbs and Keegan Gibbs; one great grandson:
Mason Blaum. He was preceded in death by his
parents, two sisters and four brothers. He was the
last of his immediate family.

Merle was a retired New Holland Grain Co. truck
driver and a carpenter. Merle was a member of New
Holland United Methodist Church; a veteran of the
U.S. Army during World War II; and a member of
American Legion Post #715 of New Holland.
Merle was cremated and a Graveside service will be
held Saturday, March 16, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at
Richmond Grove Cemetery, New Holland, IL. Burial
will follow with full military rites accorded by New
Holland American Legion. Memorials may be made to
New Holland United Methodist Church or New Holland
Fire and Rescue. Arrangements were entrusted to
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln, IL.
