International court detains Rwandan-born warlord

[March 22, 2013]  THE HAGUE, Netherlands (AP) -- The International Criminal Court says it has taken Rwandan-born warlord Bosco Ntaganda into custody and is flying him to The Hague to stand trial on charges of overseeing atrocities in eastern Congo a decade ago.

The court said in a statement Friday that Ntaganda was detained in the Rwandan capital, Kigali, where he surrendered to the U.S. Embassy on Monday.

He faces charges including murder, rape, sexual slavery and using child soldiers in brutal fighting in the eastern Congo region of Ituri.
