SPRINGFIELD -- On Friday, Gov.
Pat Quinn announced a $2.4 million capital investment in central
Illinois that includes a roof replacement in Logan County and
critical rest area repair in Macon County. Funded by his Illinois
Jobs Now capital program, the projects are part of the governor's
ongoing commitment to creating jobs and driving Illinois' economy
forward. The contracts were awarded recently following a competitive
bidding process, and they address some of Illinois' critical
infrastructure needs while creating several construction jobs.

"Investment in capital projects is one of the best ways to grow our economy and
create jobs," Quinn said. "The Illinois Jobs Now projects announced (Friday)
will help us continue to ensure Illinois has a strong, 21st-century
infrastructure while creating jobs and boosting local economies." More than
$1.4 million will go toward roof replacement at the Logan Correctional Center in
Lincoln. The contract was awarded to Designed Roofing Systems Inc. of
Springfield on their bid of $1,410,985, the lowest of six bids submitted. Seven
residential buildings, numbered C2805 through C28011, will receive new roofs.
The roof replacement will start in May, with completion by December.
The Interstate 72 rest area northeast of Decatur will also receive roof
replacement work. Joiner Sheet Metal & Roofing Inc. of Greenville was awarded
the contract on their bid of $120,538, the lowest of three bids submitted. The
work will start in May and will be completed by December.
Six steel bridge structures in Macon County will be cleaned and painted by
Venus Painting Co. with their bid of $896,000, the lowest of five submitted
bids. Four of the structures are on northbound and southbound U.S. Route 51 and
two are on eastbound and westbound I-72. The work will begin in May, with
completion in August.

state-funded construction projects. The bridge painting project is
administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
Quinn's $31 billion
Illinois Jobs Now program is supporting more than 439,000 jobs
over six years. It is the largest capital construction program in
Illinois history and one of the largest capital construction
programs in the nation.
