Florence Ruby Agnew, 96, of Lincoln, died Friday, May 3, 2013, at
12:01 a.m. at the Christian Nursing Home.

Lincoln- Florence Ruby Agnew passed away on May 3,
2013 at 12:01 A.M. at Christian Nursing Home.
She was born on August 17, 1916 at Seneca, IL, the
daughter of Abraham and Minerua Scott Coffey. She
married Martin Agnew in 1947.
During WWII, she worked at the munitions plant at
Illiopolis, where she installed detonators in bombs.
She was later employed for many years at Lincoln
Developmental Center, transferring to Logan
Correctional Center, and then to Lincoln
Correctional Center, from which she retired as an
account technician.

Florence is survived by a daughter: Diane (Roy)
Lawry; a son: Frank (Sheila) Jones, both of Lincoln.
Four grandsons: Michael, Frank, Paul, and Brandon
Jones; also by great-grandchildren. She was preceded
in death by her parents, seven brothers and sisters,
two children, and two husbands.
Florence was a member of Lincoln Christian Church,
American Business Women's Association, Oasis Senior
Center and the American Federation of State, County
and Municipal Employees and helped to establish the
Union at the Correctional Center.
Graveside Services for Florence will be 10 A.M.
Wednesday May 8, 2013 at New Union Cemetery with
Ryan Edgecombe officiating. Memorials may be made to
Oasis Senior Center. Arrangements entrusted to
Fricke Calvert Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.
