EAST PEORIA -- On Friday and Saturday, the Class A
junior high
state track and field tournament took place at the EastSide Centre
in East Peoria. Several Logan County athletes participated in this
prestigious event, making sure our county was well represented. Each
and every athlete experienced track and field competition at its
finest, and memories were made that will last a lifetime.
Here is a partial list of the Logan County athletes who made the 7A
and 8A state meet. Not all the names were available to us at the time of the meet. If parents or coaches
wish to submit the names of those who are not listed here, LDN will
happily add them to this article.
Chester-East Lincoln: Michael Chi -- eighth-grade boys 100-meter run, 18th, and
long jump, 26th; Austin Vieth -- seventh-grade boys 100-meter run, 14th, and 200-meter
run, 16th.
West Lincoln-Broadwell: eighth-grade boys 4 x 200
relay, 38th; Zach Montcalm -- eighth-boys shot put, 28th; Amber
Oliver -- seventh-grade girls 100-meter run, 43rd; Kaelyn Froebe
-- seventh-grade girls 400-meter run, 21st; Brianna Lanning
-- eighth-grade girls 400-meter run, 41st; Isabelle Stiefvater
-- eighth-grade girls 100-meter hurdles, 24th; eighth-grade girls 4 x 200 relay,
32nd; Grace Konczyk -- eighth-grade girls long jump, 18th.
Carroll Catholic: Jennifer Huynh
-- seventh-grade girls 100-meter hurdles, 37th; Aurora Board
-- eighth-grade girls 800-meter run, 31st.
Hartsburg-Emden: Hana McMullen -- seventh-grade girls 200-meter
run, 33rd; Lexi Barry -- seventh-grade girls 800- meter run, 29th, and
long jump, 32nd; Emme Olson -- seventh-grade girls
shot put, 7th.
Mount Pulaski: Peyton Taylor -- seventh-grade boys discus, 17th, and
shot put, 22nd; Skylar Hayes -- seventh-grade girls
long jump, 22nd; Maggie Anderson, Shelby Bailey, Skylar Hayes
and Fikirte Mott -- seventh-grade girls 4 x 100 relay, 33rd.
Congratulations to each and every state-qualifying athlete from
Logan County! And congratulations to nearby Mason City Illini
Central for winning the boys' seventh-grade state title and
Warrensburg-Latham for finishing fifth in girls' eighth-grade state.
