Mount Pulaski High School honors students, names Rachel Allen Senior-of-the-Year

[May 13, 2013]  MOUNT PULASKI -- On Tuesday, May 7, Mount Pulaski High School hosted its annual student recognition night.

Among the many recognitions was the Class of 2013 Senior-of-the-Year. That honor went to Rachel Faith Allen.

Rachel was recognized in September of last year as the first Senior-of-the-Month of the school year.

Rachel is the daughter of Ralph and Lori Allen of Mount Pulaski.

During high school Rachel has participated in student council, Spanish Club, Drama Club and Chorus Club. She played volleyball her freshman and sophomore years and participated in Scholastic Bowl her sophomore year. She is a three-year member of the Science Olympiad and WYSE teams and has been elected to the National Honor Society. She served as freshman class vice president and sophomore class president.

Rachel has been a four-year FFA member, serving as secretary in her junior year and as president this year. She was a national qualifier for the FFA Agriscience Fair her junior and senior years. She is also a 4-H member.

In the community Rachel has led worship at Prairieland Christian Church and the Green Room youth group. During her summers she has attended group work camps throughout the United States, doing home repair for the elderly. This summer she attended Disciples Days leadership training at Restoration House Ministries in New England.
Rachel plans to attend the University of Illinois in the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences.
