            		ATLANTA -- George Deavers, 94, of 
			Atlanta, died Sunday, May 19, 2013, at 2:30 p.m. at Christian 
			Village Nursing Home in Lincoln. (Below is a copy of 
							the obituary from the funeral home.) ___ 
							Atlanta – George J. Deavers, 94, of Atlanta, passed 
							away on Sunday, May 19, 2013, at 2:30 p.m. at the 
							Christian Village Nursing Home in Lincoln. 
							Funeral services for Mr. Deavers will be held on 
							Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. at the Atlanta 
							Christian Church. Mr. Kent Hickerson will officiate. 
							Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 
							p.m. on Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at the Atlanta 
							Christian Church. 
							Burial will be in Atlanta Cemetery. Military Rites 
							by American Legion Post 341 will be accorded. 
							George Johnson Deavers was born on July 17, 1918, in 
							rural Atlanta, the son of John and Henrietta 
							Sturgeon Deavers. He married Blanche Marie Foster on 
							December 6, 1941, in Atlanta. She preceded him in 
							death on March 7, 1990. 
							George is survived by his children: Judy Carpenter 
							of Lincoln, Terry (Martha) Deavers of Clinton, Danny 
							(Shawn) Deavers of Kenney; seven grandchildren and 
							ten great-grandchildren. 
							He was preceded in death by his wife, one sister and 
							three brothers.  | 
                 
		 
							George graduated from Atlanta High School and served 
							in the United States Army during World War II. He 
							farmed in rural Lincoln, did tile work and was known 
							as the "Deer Creek Digger." George was a member of 
							the Atlanta Christian Church and American Legion 
							Post 341 of Atlanta. He was also a member of the 
							"Country Aire Coffee Club."  
							Memorials may be made to Atlanta Christian Church or 
							the Christian Village Nursing Home of Lincoln.
