Monday evening Tracy Jackson,
superintendent of the city street and alley department
and head of the city forestry program, along with assistant
superintendent Russell Wright, presented some very big prizes to
three
District 27 second-graders.
Jackson said 148
students entered the contest this year. As always, choosing the
best three was a very difficult process, but in the end two young
ladies and one young man walked away with the top three honors.
First place went to Korynn
Huffman, who attends Northwest School. Second place went to Eathan Chaney, a student at Washington-Monroe, and
third place went to
Bailey Follis, who attends Adams School.
First-place prizes included a
D.A.R.E. kick ball, an MP2 player from the street department, a Culver's
stuffed animal with an ice cream cone, free food from McDonald's, $10 Wendy's gift card, $3 Dairy Queen card, Stuffed-Aria
pizza, two cosmic bowling passes from Logan Lanes and four Lincoln Theater
tickets.

All the second-graders in the
district received bowling passes and free McDonald's cheeseburgers.
The winning posters will be
placed on display at Culver's restaurant.
