ELKHART -- Kathryn J. "Katie" Dobey,
104, died Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at 10:15 p.m.

ELKHART-Our loving mother, Kathryn J. "Katie" Dobey,
went to be with her Lord and loved ones on May 22,
2013 at 10:15 p.m. She lived her life to be a
blessing to others and her passion for her faith
inspired everyone she knew and met. She lived a
great life to the age of 104.
Katie was an avid Chicago Cubs fan, enjoyed making
baskets, writing poems, cooking and reading the
Bible and listening to hymns. She had worked as an
activity director at Abraham Lincoln Memorial
Hospital and St. Clara's Manor. She was a member of
the Red Hats; Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital
Auxiliary and Elkhart Christian Church.
Katie was born on December 27, 1908 in Lincoln, IL
the daughter of Peter and Anna Jelkin Stumpf. She
married John Clark Dobey on March 31, 1929 in
Elkhart. He preceded her in death in November 1986.

Katie is survived by four children: Gary "Skip"
(Joyce) Dobey of Elkhart; John "Jack" Dobey of
Peoria; Susan Dobey Johnson (Dean Fulkerson) of
Elkhart; Marilyn Theobald of Lincoln; two sisters:
Emanita "Nita" Hargrave of Maldin, MO and Tony
Cavallin of California; eight grandchildren and
eight great grand children. She was preceded in
death by one son: Wayne Dobey; two sisters and four
brothers.
Services for Kathryn will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday,
May 25, 2013 at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral
Home, Lincoln with Robert Twist officiating.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at
the funeral home. Burial will be in Walnut Hill
Cemetery, Williamsville. Memorials may be given to
WLLM Radio Station, St. Clara's Manor or Elkhart
Christian Church.
