The chamber has hired the Greg Glick Band to entertain the crowd.
Guests at the event will be treated to birthday cake and cupcakes
from Peggy's Place, pizza from Guzzardo's, and adult libations
provided by the Logan County Herald. Corey Leonard with Shelter
Insurance and Joe Ryan with Country Financial will grill hot dogs
with all the trimmings. Heartland Community College will give out
walking tacos. State Bank of Lincoln and the Lincoln & Logan County
Development Partnership will hand out water and soft drinks. The
chamber's Young Professionals Network will have a margarita booth
set up for those over the age of 21.
"This event is free to everyone," said Andi Hake, executive
director of the chamber of commerce. "We've invited all our members
and their employees to come celebrate with us. We'd also love for
businesses and their employees that are not members of the chamber
to come out and be our guests. Basically we wanted to throw a big
birthday party and invite all our friends."
To kick off a yearlong celebration, the chamber unveiled a new
permanent logo in the Lincoln Christmas Parade on Nov. 29. The
chamber had an entry in the annual Main Street Lincoln parade, and
among those present for the launch of the new logo and yearlong
celebration were many past chamber presidents; Bobbi Abbott, the
immediate past executive director; and many current chamber
ambassadors and board members.
The chamber's planning committee for the 100th anniversary has
worked for more than a year to ensure that the new logo and the rich
history of the chamber are well-represented in all that the chamber
chooses to do for the celebration. At the downtown celebration next
week, the chamber will hand out its 100th anniversary book, produced
by the Logan County Herald.
