[November 01, 2013]  NEW YORK (AP) -- Tiffany says a Florida court awarded it $2.2 million in damages from defendants who sold counterfeit Tiffany jewelry online.

The jewelry retailer says a total of 78 defendants were ordered to pay damages and transfer their domain names to Tiffany. It says the defendants ran websites with names like salestiffany.net and shoptiffanyco.com and the names were intended to trick consumers into thinking they were buying Tiffany & Co. jewelry.

The final default judgment was issued by the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida.
