The trial had been expected to begin next week in an Orange County courtroom
Court records show U.S. District Judge James Selna postponed the trial because of "court congestion." The case is part of litigation that's been consolidated before Selna dealing with wrongful death and economic loss. Toyota previously agreed to pay more than $1 billion in the economic loss cases.
St. John was injured in 2009 when, she says, her Camry unexpectedly accelerated and crashed in Columbus, Ga. St. John has since died. Her estate is pursing the lawsuit.
An Oklahoma jury last month became the first to find Toyota liable in an acceleration case. |
