Steven Jon Newman, 52, of Lincoln, died Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013, at
9:51 p.m. in rural Lincoln.

Lincoln: Steven Jon Newman, 52, of Lincoln passed
away at 9:51 P.M. October 31, 2013 in rural Lincoln.
Steve was born on January 11, 1961 in Lincoln to
Robert N. and Madge Hazen Newman.
He worked as a revenue tax specialist for the
Illinois Department of Revenue. He was a past
president of AFSCME and a chief steward of the
union. Steve was a mentor and longtime friend who
worked tirelessly to improve the lives of others. He
possessed a deep understanding of the importance of
bringing people together and this allowed him to
successfully bring about positive change at the
Department of Revenue.

Steve is survived by his siblings, Larry (Debbie)
Newman of Rockford, IL, Marsha Dahl of Lincoln, IL
and Robert (Sigrid) Newman of Midland, MI. He has
many nieces and nephews, two of which he had a
special relationship, Melissa K. and Jordan M. Dahl.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services for Steve will be at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday
November 5, 2013 at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral Home in Lincoln with Pastor Henry M.
Johnson officiating. Visitation will be from
4:00-7:00 P.M. prior to services at the funeral
home. Memorials may be made to Parkinson's Disease
Research or to the American Diabetes Association.
