[November 07, 2013]  STAMFORD, Conn. (AP) -- Authorities say a 42-year-old woman has died after a mysterious fall from her 11th floor balcony at a Connecticut condominium building.

Officers and paramedics were called to the building in Stamford just after 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. A witness said she was conscious and responding to people talking to her immediately after she fell, but police say she died at about 9 p.m. at Stamford Hospital.

Police are investigating whether the fall was an accident, a suicide attempt or something else. Authorities are withholding her name pending autopsy results.

Building security guard Jelanee Allen told The Advocate of Stamford (http://bit.ly/17FecWu) that he heard the woman scream and it sounded like she fell by accident.

Police say she lived alone and her door was locked when they went to her condo.
