But much of the weakness in October's jobs report will likely reflect the temporary impact of the shutdown. Most economists expect any spike in the jobless rate will be reversed in November. The economy was strengthening ahead of the shutdown, the government said Thursday in a separate report. Growth accelerated at a 2.8 percent annual rate in the July-September quarter, up from a 2.5 percent rate in the April-June quarter.
