All Illinois school students in the seventh and eighth grades, ninth
and 10th grades, and 11th and 12th grades are invited to participate
in this contest. Home-schoolers will compete at their own grade
level according to age.

Class I -- seventh
and eighth grades -- $100 to $200 cash awards (state level)

Class II -- ninth
and 10th grades -- $100 to $200 cash awards (state level)

Class III -- 11th and 12 grades -- $300
to $1,200 scholarships (state level)
Monetary awards are also given on the unit and district level.
Lincoln Unit 263 will award $20 to each class winner, $15 to
second-place winners and $10 to third-place winners. Winning essays
will be forwarded to the district for judging.
