Ameren Illinois' outage center shows there were about
32,000 customers without power Monday morning. The highest
concentration is near Peoria, although outages are scattered
across central and southern Illinois. At the peak of the
outages, the utility said about 140,000 customers had no power.
Meanwhile in northern Illinois, ComEd had about 16,000 customers
without power. That's far less than the 79,000 who were in the
dark on Sunday.
Ameren Illinois officials say in a statement that crews worked
through the night to restore power, and thousands of employees
have been deployed across Illinois. More are expected Monday.
