Fifty-year-old Arnell Edwards of St. Louis pleaded guilty
Wednesday in U.S. District Court in East St. Louis to one count of
bank robbery.
Authorities say that on Sept. 6, Edwards entered the US Bank branch
in New Athens wearing the dress and wig and ordered the teller to
give him cash from her drawer.
He fled with an unspecified amount of money, discarding his clothing
in a bush before being seen entering a nearby apartment. Edwards
surrendered after police converged on the building.
In addition to prison, Edwards faces up to $250,000 in fines when
sentenced April 7. [Associated
