[November 21, 2013]  EAST ST. LOUIS (AP) — A Missouri man faces up to 20 years in federal prison now that he's pleaded guilty to robbing a southern Illinois bank while clad in a wig, polka-dot dress and sunglasses.

Fifty-year-old Arnell Edwards of St. Louis pleaded guilty Wednesday in U.S. District Court in East St. Louis to one count of bank robbery.

Authorities say that on Sept. 6, Edwards entered the US Bank branch in New Athens wearing the dress and wig and ordered the teller to give him cash from her drawer.

He fled with an unspecified amount of money, discarding his clothing in a bush before being seen entering a nearby apartment. Edwards surrendered after police converged on the building.

In addition to prison, Edwards faces up to $250,000 in fines when sentenced April 7.
