The majority of the 1,900 workers, in the devices and services, unit
will remain in the building in Espoo as employees of Microsoft Corp.
Nokia Corp. announced the move Thursday, two days after shareholders
overwhelmingly approved the 5.4 billion-euro ($7.2 billion) sale to
Microsoft of the devices and services unit and a license to a
portfolio of patents. Some 32,000 Nokia employees worldwide will
move over to Microsoft once the deal is closed.
Last year, the struggling cellphone maker sold its headquarters to
investors for 170 million euros ($220 million) but leased back the
building. [Associated
