Prison Sentence
for Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon
On November 7,
2013, Marcellis L. Daniel was sentenced by Associate Judge William
Yoder to 5 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. On
November 17, 2012, Lincoln Police Office Miles Craig was patrolling
the area of Maple Street and 3rd Street in Lincoln looking for a
suspect that fled from a burglary. Officer Craig stopped an
individual that fit the general description of the suspect. The
individual, later identified as Marcellis Daniel, was not the
burglary suspect but Mr. Daniel was arrested pursuant to a pending
arrest warrant out of McLean County. Officer Craig searched
Marcellis Daniel incident to the arrest and discovered a loaded 40
caliber pistol in his waistband. Mr. Daniel has a 2009 felony
conviction out of McLean County for Unlawful Delivery of Cannabis.

"Officer Craig made
a lawful detainer of Mr. Daniel. In the process of investigating a
burglary report, he was able to take a firearm out of the possession
of a convicted felon," state Wright.
