Deputy Anderson attempted to conduct a search of Homer Etchison but Mr. Etchison gave flight. Deputy Anderson, along with other officers that arrived on scene, apprehended Mr. Etchison. Deputy Anderson searched the line of travel for Mr. Etchison and discovered a small piece of tin foil. The tin foil was seized and tested positive for the presence of heroin.

"Possession of any amount of illegal drugs is a serious offense," stated Wright. "In addition to the underlying offense, Mr. Etchison has five prior felony convictions. The offense and his prior criminal history resulted in an agreed sentence to prison," added Wright. "A police officer never knows how a routine traffic stop will unfold. Deputy Anderson, and all law enforcement for that matter, are to be thanked and appreciated for their diligent efforts every day that put them in harm's way."
