[November 25, 2013]  Saturday evening, Mayor Keith Snyder issued the following notice to city aldermen and local media.

At the request of the City of Washington, IL, the Lincoln Police Department is providing assistance with patrol and site security in that community. An officer was provided today from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 pm and one will be provided tomorrow during the same time period to control traffic, to allow recovery efforts to continue, and to assist public safety personnel from the community as they perform their jobs.

The Lincoln officer will be one of 12 provided by police departments in the region to assist Washington with patrol and site security. The objectives of the mission are to patrol affected areas, assist on access control points, maintain order, and enforce parking restrictions.

We're proud to provide any assistance we can as Washington works to recover from last Sunday's tornadoes.
