Public invited to LCU lectures presented by internationally acclaimed scholar

[October 01, 2013]  Lincoln Christian University will host its James D. Strauss Worldview Lectureship on Tuesday and Wednesday. This year's featured lecturer will be Dr. Darrell L. Bock of Dallas Theological Seminary, who will address the topic "Kingdom, Cross, or Both? Sorting Out What the Gospel Is."

The first lecture will be presented on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. in the Earl C Hargrove Chapel. A lunchtime question-and-answer session will follow at noon in Restoration Hall's Dowling Auditorium. At 7 p.m. Tuesday, there will be another lecture in Dowling Auditorium. A fourth lecture will conclude the series on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. in Dowling Auditorium.

The lectures are free and open to the public.

Dr. Bock has earned international acclaim as a Humboldt Scholar for his work in Luke-Acts, historical Jesus study, biblical theology and messianic Jewish ministries. He serves as editor-at-large for Christianity Today and is a board member of Chosen People Ministries and Wheaton College. He has written more than 30 books, and his articles have been featured in leading journals and periodicals. He has been a guest on several news and Christian programs, including ABC, CNN, "Day of Discovery" and the John Ankerberg shows. He blogs at the Dallas Morning News for Texas Faith, and has been a New York Times best-selling author in nonfiction. He is elder emeritus at Trinity Fellowship Church in Dallas, Texas.

His educational background includes a bachelor's degree from the University of Texas, a master's in theology from Dallas Theological Seminary, a doctorate from the University of Aberdeen in Scotland and postdoctoral studies from the University of Tubingen in Germany.

The James D. Strauss Lectureship honors the legacy of Dr. James Strauss, former LCU professor of theology and philosophy. The lecture series invites some of the finest minds in a Christian worldview to address issues affecting Christians and Christianity today. The lectures are presented each fall on the first Tuesday and Wednesday of October.
