"The IAR Fall Conference is a great place to go to keep current on trends in
real estate. It is also a great source for staying current with all of the
different regulations required in the selling and buying of real estate," Hudson
said. With the theme of "The Power of R," this year's conference celebrated
the power of the
Realtor family, education, the Realtors Political Action Committee and the
RVOICE advocacy program. Hundreds of Illinois Realtors learned more about mobile
technology, tips for going paperless, the social business of real estate and
what may be ahead for the housing market and economy in 2014.
Featured presenters included a real estate economist, John Tuccillo; a social
media trainer, John D. Reyes; the director of digital engagement for the
National Association of Realtors, Nobu Hata; an iPad trainer, Kim Hlava; and a
technology enthusiast, Steve Volkodav, CEO of the North Shore-Barrington
Association of Realtors.
Conference attendees also had the opportunity to attend two continuing
education classes.
Realtor and attorney Bruce Aydt provided an overview on fair housing and
other issues in the course "Fair Housing, Agency, License Law & Escrow 3.0." Tax
expert Chris Bird covered tax changes affecting the real estate industry in the
course "What's Congress Up To? How Changing Federal Tax Laws Impact Your Clients
and the Real Estate Professional."
A trade expo in connection with the conference featured some of the real
estate industry's top vendors, including marketing and insurance providers,
banking and mortgage services, and business technology companies.
