Tuesday morning, first-grader Corbin Lohrenz was rewarded for his artistic talents with a ride to school in a city of Lincoln fire truck. Corbin's masterpiece, pictured below, was deemed to be the best of the best among 123 first-grade level entries in this year's fire department poster contest.

Tuesday morning when the fire truck arrived at Corbin's home, his family was gathered around, proudly taking pictures as Corbin got into the truck.

Corbin's poster depicts the firefighters battling fire in a burning building while those inside find a means of escaping.

Corbin is ready to roll.

First, dad Chad Lohrenz says he will ride along in the big red truck with his son.

Then with only a small amount of coaxing, granddad Paul Givens decides he will go along as well.

Because Corbin lives very close to Chester-East Lincoln, where he attends school, the firemen took him on a short side trip around town.

The truck rounds the corner and pulls up in front of CEL.
