CHARLESTON -- The Lincoln College
men's and women's cross country team competed Thursday at the Region 24
cross country meet, hosted by Eastern Illinois University. The men's
team placed second in the region and had the Region 24 champion in John
Davis.

Davis ran the 8K course in a time of 27:26. The LC men also had a
second-team all-region competitor in Josh Montgomery, who placed
eighth overall. The rest of the top five men for the Lynx were Zach
Humpheries, 14th; Joel Flores, 15th; and Jermain Sanders, 16th.
The women's team placed fourth out of the six teams represented.
Tina Demogerontas placed fifth overall and earned recognition as a
first-team all-regional competitor. Her 5K time of 20:12 also places
her ninth on Lincoln's top 10 times. Rounding out the women's top
five were Kaiyla Brooks, 16th; Akiya Thompson, 17th; Lizzi Herzog,
22nd; and Te'Andria Bouliox.

Coach Herron said: "The team really matured today. It was a
cold and windy day, and almost every runner dropped 30 seconds
or more off their best time. I am very pleased. I am very happy
for John, Josh and Tina for making all-regionals, but I am just
as pleased with everyone else who stepped it up today. They all
have come a long way from when we first began the season.
"The exciting thing is that both the men's and women's team lose
only one person from their top five from this year, so the future of
the team looks promising."
The Lynx had two members qualify for the national meet. Davis and
Demogerontas will represent Lincoln in Fort Dodge, Iowa, on Nov. 9.
